Real World: Hollywood Star Joey Kovar Dead at 29
August 17, 2012

Fans of MTV's The Real World are mourning the loss of Hollywood season alum Joey Kovar, who was found dead Friday in Chicago, according to TMZ. He was 29.

Discovered by a female friend at a home near Chicago, the former reality star is said to have had blood coming out of his ears and nose. Authorities dispatched to the home following a 911 call pronounced him dead on the scene.

According to TMZ, family members believe drugs played a role in the death of Kovar, who famously sought help for cocaine and ecstasy addiction during a 2010 stint on Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew.

He also entered treatment midway through his stint on MTV's The Real World: Hollywood in 2008, where he came clean about his addition for the first time after his roommates staged an intervention.

well said kcalvin and mr sinister. Someone very close to me is a recovering heroin addict they are about to celebrate 4 years clean it hasn't been easy at all for them but when they were in active addiction I waited for something like this to happen and thank god it didn't. I try not to ge offended by peoples opinions in here because we are all entitled and to them but hopefully none of Joey's friends or family see these because some of them could be hurtful and they have enough to deal with right now. However I hope they are smart enough to not go on these sites and keep his good memories alive RIP Joey.

You will be missed Joey.. I wish your battle with this sickness was ended with your soberness.. Not your death.. I do not judge you for your addiction and will not call you a junkie because I myself have never been addicted to drugs but have people I love very much in my life that battled with drug addiction.. It is a war and isn't ever easy.. To the rest of you none of you really knew him so to call him names and cast your judgements on who he is and about his death is shameful and horrible.. Don't judge somebody based on what you see on tv or read on the internet or in magazines.. Not one of you are perfect either so just leave it alone

you can't blame dr. drew. one can only get help if they WANT the help. a doc can only help you when you choose to leave the lifestyle behind, and deal with the demons that go with it. blaming dr. drew is like blaming ronald mcdonald for a bad cheeseburger. he may have gone to rehab, but made the choice HIMSELF not to do the work that goes into getting well. very sad for his family and friends. but it's ultimately HIS choice when he had the chances to obtain sobriety. and yes, i went through rehab myself a long time ago, so don't start the you don't know about addiction bullshyt! again... very sad for his family and friends.

I don't think Dr. Drew is to blame here at all. But he needed real profession help, not Hollywood lights camera action help! Which only seemed to compound his problems. Sooo very sad.

@DSIL....totally agree with you, I appreciate your comment as it rings very true. Unfortunately he didn't care enough about himself to quit putting junk in his body. He surely didn't care about his family or the children he left behind and how they're left to pick up the pieces now. Addiction is one mean old devil ******* that screws you in the assss with no lube and it's tough to shake. DSIL is correct he was a junkie, and in the end addiction tightened its grip and won. So very very very sad. I pray for his family.
