Taylor Swift's secret's out!

The 22-year-old dated Jake Gyllenhaal** two years ago, and on her latest album, Red, waxes philosophical about their relationship on the track "All Too Well," an insider confirms to Us Weekly.

Calling Red her most "adventurous album yet," Swift told Good Morning America the writing process for "All Too Well" was a tedious one. "'All Too Well' was the hardest to write because it took me a long time to filter through everything I wanted to say," she admitted. "It started out being a 10-minute song, which you can't put on an album. I had to filter it down to a story that could work in the form of a song."

In the track, Swift reflects on her 2010 Thanksgiving outing with Gyllenhaal, 31, opening about spending the holiday at his sister Maggie Gyllenhaal**'s home in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Swift even sings about a mysterious black and white striped scarf both she and Gyllenhaall wore during their courtship. "Left my scarf there at your sister's house / And you still got it in your drawer," Swift's lyrics read. While the ode is indeed about Gyllenhaal, a scarf thief he may not be. Consider: The knit in question could, in fact, be his! Both were snapped wearing the wrap, but he stepped out in it first on Nov. 11 and 15, long before Swift donned it for their Thanksgiving stroll in Brooklyn.

Writing songs about her failed romances has become a preferred pastime for Swift, who was dumped by Gyllenhaal around Christmas in 2010 -- via a phone call. "It's safe for her and it's something she loves," explains a source of Swift penning the tracks. "She goes back to it because it's something she's good at -- and she's not good at love."

That's not to say Swift isn't still on the hunt for The One. Splitting from Conor Kennedy in October, the country queen is now "officially hanging out" with One Direction's Harry Styles, whom she recently bonded with at an X Factor taping. "Love is not a reality for her yet, but she knows it will happen," says the Swift source.

Why is it a problem when Swift writes about her exes? Isn't that what country music has been about from the start... Much of it at any rate?? Why jake would ask out a 20 yr old is beyond me that's wrong. At 31 he should have know better

Geez..a lot of you guys are haters!!! To quote Taylor, Someday, I'll be living' in a big old city and all you're ever gonna be is mean. I'm a big Taylor fan, but I can understand why people are getting sick of ex songs. However, you have to realize that does have songs that are about when relationships are good (Stay, Stay, Stay, Begin Again, Love Story, Fearless, Sparks Fly, etc). And, as others have pointed out, it doesn't mean she sleeps with all these guys. She dates like any other non-married person does, BUT she's in the spotlight so a lot of people know about her relationships. I've dated a lot of guys but I don't sleep around. Dating is how you figure out what you do and don't like in a guy. Cut her some slack. She is (in my opinion) THE most talented songwriting female in the music industry right now. She has a wisdom beyond her years and a way with words that is just incredible. Some of her songs have brought tears to my eyes because I've been through situations SO similar to some of hers. Don't limit your opinion of her; listen to her albums and the **** heart-felt lyrics and then decide what you think of her. And don't waste your time bashing Taylor when there are celebrities like Ke$ha who are worthy of trashing.

I'm cracking up at some of these posts!People act like they actually know her or something (oh wait, one poster actually claimed to know her..yeah,right).Off the top of my head,i think the only guys she's dated are Joe,Jake,John,Taylor, and the Kennedy kid....all over a span of what? 5 years. Why does everyone assume she sleeps with every guy she goes on a date with? Or that every male she's seen with is her boyfriend? Trust me,I'm not Taylor's number one fan or anything, i'm really not that into most mainstream music but she DOES have real talent.Come on,the girl had a contract with a record label as a songwriter at the age of 13.Also,anyone that has listened to her CD's would know the majority aren't about her exes.(believe me i know, unfortunately my daughter plays her CDs every damn day!)The media only talks about the ones that are.The only two songs I really like by her are Never Grow up about her mom and Ronan which is a beautiful song about a little boy she met and grew close to who was battling cancer. Taylor may be a little immature and annoying at times but she most definitely isn't a hoe. Some of the posts on here calling her names were ridiculous. But I guess since its the weekend all the grade schoolers have nothing better to do.

Her songs are catchy, and I understand why she writes about her exes because its what sells. But, it's getting old. And maybe she's the problem, not the guys.

@aaa123...Not. for or against Taylor! But if there is any significance concerning the scarf, and it's concerning Adultery! It Wouldn't Apply to Her! She's Not Married, nor Anyone she dated! So? I Hope she have More Class, then to write about the Kennedy breakup! That would be Too Stuupiided ed ed!
