Sofia Vergara and Nick Loeb kicked off 2013 with a bang -- and plenty of drama.

The engaged couple were celebrating the new year at Miami's Story, hosted by the Modern Family actress' ex-boyfriend Chris Paciello.; the two dated in the 1990s. According to The New York Post's Page Six, Loeb, 37, got into a scuffle with fellow patrons at the new nightclub.

"Nick seemed tense around Chris, who was hosting them in the VIP section, even though he and Sofia are just friends. In the early hours, Nick and Sofia were arguing before he got into a dispute with somebody at a neighboring table. Some pushing and shoving started," a witness told the newspaper. "Sofia stepped in to try to calm the situation, but somehow she ended up getting pushed and shoved also. Her strapless [Mason by Michelle Mason] dress was torn or pulled down in the melee, exposing her cleavage in front of other people."

The source adds that Vergara's son, Manolo, 20, "was so offended he left the club. It was crazy."

The source added, "Nick was pulled away from Sofia and those at the next table by security guards, who dragged him out of the VIP section and threw him out of the club. Sofia followed him." Reps for both stars did not return Page Six's request for comment.

Vergara -- television's highest-paid actress -- "was never hit," the source clarified. Her politician fiance, on the other hand, "was pretty bruised from struggling with security. None of the drama was Sofia's fault."

The future spouses "made up outside the club" and called it a night, according to Page Six. They returned to their hotel suite at The Delano, where Vergara had hosted a countdown to midnight Dec. 31.

Vergara and Loeb -- heir to New York's Loeb, Rhoades banking fortune -- got engaged in July after a brief split in May. They began dating in February 2010.
