Russell Crowe Doesn't "Disagree" With Adam Lambert's Harsh Les Miserables Criticism

Adam Lambert** had harsh criticism for the musical drama Les Miserables over the weekend -- and the film's star Russell Crowe** is on his side.

On Sunday, Dec. 30, the American Idol alum slammed the singing in the Tom Hooper-directed film. "Les Mis: Visually impressive with great emotional performances. But the score suffered massively with great actors pretending to be singers. It's an opera. Hollywood's movie musicals treat the singing as the last priority. (Dreamgirls was good.)" Lambert, 30, tweeted. "And I do think it was cool they were singing live -- but with that cast, they should have studio recorded and sweetened the vocals."

Oscar-winning actor Crowe, 48, who stars as Javert in the film, responded to Lambert's criticism on Twitter Jan. 1. "I don't disagree with Adam," he wrote. "Sure, it could have been sweetened. Hooper wanted it raw and real, that's how it was."

Lambert did have some nice words to say for the film, but they weren't directed at Crowe.

"Anne Hathaway as Fantine and [Aaron Tveit's] Enjolras were the exceptions for me," he tweeted of the performances. "Helena B Carter and Sasha B Cohen were great too . . . Eponine's voice was cool too."

But overall, Lambert wasn't a fan of the casting in the film. He argued, "The industry will say 'these actors were so brave to attempt singing this score live,' but why not cast actors who could actually sound good?"

"Sorry for being so harsh but it's so True!" he added. "One more clarification: Do go see it for Anne Hathaway's performance. It's was breathtaking."

Inquisitive one: what addictions? And that phone incident is almost a decade old. What temper issues has he had since?? Russel handed the jab with grace. He should have called Lambert out for the prick he is. I'm actually annoyed Russell responded at all because if anything, it lent credence to Adam's immature, jealous rant.

Who the hell told you, reality TV freak, that your opinions matters. Russell - why don't you contrate on personal hygeine, your addictions, and getting your famous temper in line before you open your mouth! Sounds like two jerks with an envy issue.

Thank you, Mr Sinister! I wanted to say it wasn't an opera, too, but its been a long time since I had seen a production of it and just didn't want to 'go there', lol! Adam is an egomaniacal idiot.

Russell as an actor, you shouldn't limit you self to any role, that's what makes a good actors, risk taker, dare to play anything, most difficult roles. And Adam, please don't even talk, who care about anything you got to say. Looking like a fruity rooster. You shouldn't be criticizing anything. Hushhhhhhh

Adam, what YOU think is not relevant.

He did have a point. Acting or not, stay true to what it is, an opera. When Rent became a movie they used most of the the original Broadway cast. And at least Adam has more relevance than the actual AI winner.

Adam is just jealous b/c his career....well, uh he doesn't have a career. Did he think he shouldve been cast?! He's a singer who cant act. Wait he cant sing either. So there you have it.
