Prince William, Kate Middleton Visit Sandringham for Boxing Day
December 28, 2012

Prince William** and Kate Middleton shared the holidays with both of their families.

The royal couple, who are expecting their first child together, traveled to Sandringham estate on Boxing Day, Dec. 26 to spend time with William's family after spending Christmas with the Middletons in Bucklebury, a source confirms to Us Weekly.

Despite it being a rainy day, William, 30, joined Prince Philip and other royal family members for a traditional Boxing Day shoot at nearby Wood Farm in Wolferton.

His pregnant wife, 30, however, stayed back in the house with Queen Elizabeth II, who had just recovered from a cold, the source tells Us. (Middleton has been taking it easy since announcing she is pregnant on Dec. 3. The Duchess of Cambridge was battling Hyperemesis Gravidarum, an acute form of morning sickness, and was hospitalized for several days.)

The ladies did join the others at Wood Farm for lunch following the shoot. The traditional lunch was served in a conservatory area and included cold meats, cheeses, fresh bread and soup.

Queen Elizabeth II had hoped William and Middleton would spend Christmas at Sandringham. A source told Us she had even invited the Duchess' parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, to be the first-ever non-royals to attend her traditional gathering. But a spokesperson for St. James's Palace confirmed to Us that the Duke and Duchess would spend the holiday privately with the Middleton family instead.

William and Middleton stayed at Sandringham House the night of Dec. 26. A source tells Us the couple plans to ring in the New Year at Prince Charles**' private Highlands estate, Birkhall.

@sugar...Catherine DOES have her husbands name. It's the magazine that has it wrong. Technically, her surname is Windsor, but they mainly use the Royal titles. However, it's the magazines that have it wrong when they continue to call her 'Kate Middleton'. Which personally I find disrespectful and ignorant. Like I previously posted, the only time US gets it right is when they're quoting a spokesperson for the Palace. As for people in general not taking their husbands name, I figure to each their own. I was more than happy to take my husbands name and only on my business card do I use my maiden name. But that's just me.

at the risk of sounding old fashioned (im only thirty something so im not old) i believe when you choose to get married you should take your husbands name so when your children come along you are the same.. Women in america are always tooting about loosing their identity well i think if youre that scared of losing something ya probably dont have it anyway so thats probably why writers call her by her maiden name.

As far as US continually using Catherine's maiden name, I've given up airing my frustration on it. They've been calling her 'Kate Middleton' since the day she got married. The only time this site refers to her in her correct title, is when they're quoting a spokesman for the Palace. While I agree it's annoying, they're not going to stop. So I quit letting it bother me so much. I put it down to the fact I'm aware I'm reading a rag mag and not a particularly classy publication. However, I feel your pain!

Jackie123....THANK YOU, I have actually said the exact same thing before!!! It's just rude, to continue to refer to her by her maiden name, simply because she's not a princess yet!! She is a duchess and deserves the respect that comes with the title!!!

Agreed, Jackie123. That irritates me as well!

I find it so rude that the writer of this article keeps refering to the Duchess as Middleton! They never referred to Princess Diana as Spencer! How disrespectful!

She looks so much better, I'm really happy for her. I hope she continues to get well! Be Blessed!
