Dude looks like a lady!

Jared Leto** -- the man who made millions of teen girls swoon as Jordan Catalano on My So-Called Life -- dressed in full drag to film scenes for The Dallas Buyers Club Nov. 15 in New Orleans.

In his first major film role since appearing as John Lennon's assassin Mark David Chapman in 2007's Chapter 27, the 30 Seconds to Mars frontman plays a cross-dresser battling AIDS. For Thursday's shoot, Leto, 40, got into character by donning a fur coat, black miniskirt and purple tights. He was also in full hair and makeup.

Expected in theaters next year, The Dallas Buyers Club is loosely based on the true-life story of Ron Woodruff, a Texas electrician given six months to live after being diagnosed with AIDS. Woodruff (played by Matthew McConaughey**) then smuggles alternative drugs into the U.S. to aid himself and other AIDS patients, including Leto's character, Rayon.

Like Leto, McConaughey is also going all in to perfect his character, shedding his usually muscular body and adopting a skeletal appearance in recent months.

"I'm playing a guy who was sick and would have loved to have been healthier but wasn't. For me, it's more of a mental thing than a physical thing," McConaughey, 43, tells Us Weekly. "I'll get down to the weight I need to get to. I'm on my way, and it's what I need to do for the job."

@Duh well stated my friend!! I'm comforted knowing that some people are aware of the seriousness of this disease. When my uncle, a police officer was poked by a dirty needle from a man's.pocket during an arrest he had to get tested for 6 months!! The result was negative but the emotions were enough for him to breakdown! People need to educate themselves before making ludicrous statements in the future!!

@jade60 I agree with you. There are more ways than just being irresponsible to contract HIV. As you said there are transfusions. There are cases of doctors and nurses being stuck accidently by needles used on HIV patients as well. It is shocking to of that people still are not educated enough about this disease and make comments proving just that. To me that is being irresponsible as well as ignorant. And how can this disease be overrated? Its an epidemic worldwide.

@ mama of 4... While I don't disagree with you completely ( irresponsibility) there are people who have been infected by blood transfusions as well. So HIV or Aids is in no way overrated IMHO!! Regardless of how it is transmitted its a disease that needs to be recognized!!
