Ariel Winter will continue to stay with her sister for the time being, a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge ruled Tuesday, Nov. 20.

Two weeks after Shanelle Gray, 34, was granted temporary custody of the 14-year-old actress, Judge Michael Levanas has decided to extend her guardianship after a Tuesday morning hearing. (Winter was removed from her mother, Chrisoula Workman's, home following allegations of emotional and physical abuse.)

During the hearing, Gray's attorney Michael Kretzner cited a Department of Child and Family Services report which stated that while findings of physical abuse against Chrisoula were "inconclusive," Gray's accusations of emotional abuse were "substantiated."

Levanas denied a guardianship request by Winter's father Glenn Workman, who seems to have done a 180 with regards to Winter being under her sister's care. (Initially, Glenn had stated in a declaration that he would not object to his daughter remaining with her older sister.)

"I have found that Shanelle is capable of the temporary guardianship," Levanas announced in court, explaining that permanent custody will be decided at a later trial date.

Maybe Ariel is better off for now with her sister. The judge must have saw that something is going on with this family if he gave guardianship to the sister. Just because a parent doesn't abuse one child, doesn't mean she isn't abusive to another. I see it in the news all the time. If the father and brother stood by and saw this happening, they are just as guilty for not doing anything to protect her. Emotional abuse is sometimes far worse than physical, bruises heel, harsh words can leave far de eper scars. I hope they order counseling for the family, so maybe in the future they can all heal.

I'm sad for this young lady. I don't care if she is a very wealthy actress, but she's 14!!! Why do kids have to go through this kind of hell on earth. If Ariel gets through this without major scars, it'll be a miracle.
