Since Robert Pattinson** accepted Kristen Stewart's apologies for her July infidelity**, the pair have found themselves on more equal, if sometimes unsteady, footing. Her groveling campaign, which a friend says she extended to his family, paid off. Alas, trust remains an issue.

"He's never going to forget what she did, but he has forgiven her," a confidant, who insisted the Brit, 26, and the L.A. native, 22, aren't good enough actors to fake it for their Twilight press tour, told Us Weekly. "Almost losing him was a wake-up call for Kristen. And Rob doesn't want to be angry anymore. They want to move forward."

Not that it's been an easy road.

With Stewart still on relationship probation, "there are good days and bad days," said a pal. "She still feels guilty."

The couple is currently on a whirlwind tour for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 promotions. Stewart and Pattinson have already walked the red carpets of the Los Angeles and London premieres this week, with Madrid and Berlin up next.

A cast source on the tour maintained, "They're comfortable, almost as if no scandal had occurred."

Almost, said a production insider: "She still thinks the world hates her. It's hard to resume a relationship after something like that."
