Kate Middleton, Prince William Missing Christmas With Queen Elizabeth II at Sandringham Estate

Kate Middleton will be home for Christmas -- and not just in her dreams.

The pregnant Duchess, who has been battling an acute form of morning sickness known as hyperemesis gravidarum, plans to celebrate the holiday with her husband, Prince William**, at her parents' home in Bucklebury, the palace tells Us. There, they will be joined by Middleton's siblings, Pippa, 29, and James, 25, as well as several other relatives.

"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will spend Christmas Day privately with the Middleton family," a spokesperson for St. James's Palace confirms to Us Weekly.

The decision is no doubt a disappointment to Queen Elizabeth II, who recently invited the Duchess' parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, to be the first-ever non-royals to attend her traditional -- and super exclusive -- Christmas gathering at Sandringham Estate. As the new issue of Us Weekly reveals, Her Majesty hoped that the gesture would be an incentive for the prince and his wife to join the celebration "despite this difficult time."

Insiders told Us that the royal couple's Christmas plans would depend on how the Duchess was feeling in the time leading up to the big day. "If Catherine doesn't go, William probably won't either," an aide explained.

All is not lost, however. The palace tells Us that while the Duke and Duchess are spending Dec. 25 in Bucklebury, they'll visit Sandringham "at some point" over the holiday period.

It doesn't surprise me at all. Will knows what his mother endured with the royals and he is dead set on making his wife and family his priority. His mama raised him right!!!

After shoving Diana into the royal mold with bad results, I guess they are not going to push pregnant Kate around too much. That wouldnt look proper. This will enable Kate freedoms that Diana didn't have.

@rukidding... Helloooo its 2012.... Traditions are made to be broken. Who are you to say not taking the Queens invite is a big mistake? Someone not coming to your house that you invited so you gotta get all over a sick pregnant Kate? Get over yourself. They said they would see her over the holiday... Take a chill

Good for them. Wills should have a different Christmas for once, without all the royal traditions. If Kate is sick, she's got her Mum there to take care of her. Sounds like a win win to me

Good for her,she can celebrate the holiday like regular folk do, and if she has to retch she can run to her own bathroom,no one will care and Mom can hold her hand or whatever comforts her.

I think it will be more relaxing for her to be at her parents house. No stiff royal protocol. Kudos to William for bucking tradition and celebrating Christmas in a way that is helping his wife through a tough time. Diana raised a gentleman with a heart.
