Comedian Jenny Johnson on Chris Brown Twitter Feud: I'm Not Sorry
November 30, 2012

Sorry, Chris Brown** fans -- Jenny Johnson is not sorry.

Nearly a week after her now-infamous Twitter fight with Rihanna's possibly on-again boyfriend, comedian Jenny Johnson is speaking out about the feud in a blog post for GQ. In the post, she acknowledges that the exchange was "not [her] finest hour" but says she doesn't regret what she wrote to the "Don't Wake Me Up" singer on the micro-blogging website.

"This is not an apology," she notes at the top of the article.

Indeed, Johnson doesn't express any remorse for calling the R&B star an "ignorant" "piece of s--t" during their bitter exchange on Sunday, Nov. 25, which resulted in the singer deleting his Twitter account. (Brown replied to the insults in kind, calling the comedian "worthless" and a "thirsty bitch," in addition to several other not-fit-for-print jibes.)

She does say, however, that she never intended for the situation to get as out-of-hand as it did. (Because of their feud, and Brown's subsequent disappearance from social media, several Team Breezy fans threatened to "kill" and "stab" Johnson.)

"I assumed a couple of days would pass and other things would happen and our little spat would be yesterday's news," the comedian writes. "Halle Berry's baby daddy and current fiance get in a fistfight**, Lindsay Lohan gets arrested**, and Kate Middleton gets bangs**: perfect. But it's still kind of there. I didn't expect my name to be in entertainment news, but it is, and it is because I started it."

Johnson adds that the incident taught her a valuable lesson about being in the spotlight. "I won't say I regret what I did, but I will say I have learned from it. I chose to turn a lazy Sunday watching football with my husband into a total s--tstorm," she says in the blog post, alluding to both the feud and the media frenzy that followed it. "I never thought I'd see the chicks on The View attempt to break down our interaction on Twitter."

(After the fight, View co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck said on the show that she thought Brown's remarks were equivalent to "verbal rape." Whoopi Goldberg countered that both he and Johnson were "verbally assaulting each other.")

"My Twitter account is meant to be funny," Johnson clarifies. "While there are truths behind a lot of the things I write, in no way, shape or form are they meant to be seen as anything other than the words of a comedy writer, in 140 characters or less."

Chris Brown is an idiot. He's so talented and yet he continues to do some crazy $hit. He acts first and then reacts with regret. Someone must've taught him that asking for forgiveness is better than asking for permission. Jenny Johnson's job is to make us laugh. She failed.
