Hollywood has a new Golden Boy! Ben Affleck** may have been snubbed by the Academy Awards, but he walked away from Sunday's Golden Globes with two very impressive consolation prizes: the awards for Best Director and Best Picture.

The Argo visionary defeated fellow nominees Kathryn Bigelow (Zero Dark Thirty), Steven Spielberg (Lincoln), Ang Lee (Life of Pi), and Quentin Tarantino (Django Unchained) for the coveted directing prize. "Look, I don't care what the award is -- anytime they put your name next to the names [Julia Roberts] just read off, it's an extraordinary thing in your life," he said.

"These nominees are exceptional talents," the star continued. "I truly...never thought I would be in the same breath as them."

The actor-turned director also had some kind words for wife Jennifer Garner. Earlier in the night, the two walked the red carpet together in a rare public appearance as a couple.

"I want to thank my wife who is the reason why I'm standing here," he gushed, as the camera panned over to a beaming Garner, with whom he shares kids Violet, 7, Seraphina, 4, and Samuel, nearly 11 months. "I adore you. I love you so much. Thanks for sitting through this. You are my everything."

Incidentally, Garner was scheduled to take the stage to present an award almost immediately after her husband was played off. Appearing at the mic in a gorgeous red gown with a sweetheart neckline and all-over beading, the mom-of-three squeezed in a few more "thank you's" on Affleck's behalf -- including one to Argo producer George Clooney.
