Adam Lambert Slams Les Miserables Cast: They're
December 31, 2012

Adam Lambert** wants a refund on his Les Miserables movie tickets.

After catching the flick this week, American Idol's season 8 runner-up took to Twitter to offer a scathing review of the movie musical starring Anne Hathaway**, Hugh Jackman** and others.

"Les Mis: Visually impressive with great Emotional performances. But the score suffered massively with great actors PRETENDING to be singers. It's an opera. Hollywood's movie musicals treat the singing as the last priority," Lambert tweeted.

Giving Hathaway a pass for her "breathtaking" performance as dying prostitute Fantine, Lambert slammed the rest of the cast for singing live while filming. "I do think it was cool they were singing live, but with that cast, they should have studio recorded and sweetened the vocals. . . The singing was so distracting at times it pulled me out."

"The industry will say 'these actors were so brave to attempt singing this score live,' but why not cast actors who could actually sound good? Sorry for being so harsh but it's so true!" he continued via Twitter.

While Lambert may take offense with Les Miserables' movie vocals, those involved in the actual production gave their all for the film. Cast as dashing battle hero Marius, Eddie Redmayne tells Us Weekly's Charles Thorp the audition process was akin to something seen on American Idol or The X Factor. "It was so intense -- I have new respect for people of those shows," he explained. "The only thing missing was Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell**!"

@ Sugar Britches, how is how hard he had to work to get noticed any different than most singers/actors? Very few start out in top. Watch a few documentaries before making the assumption his life is so hard. Even if it was, he should respect to fellow entertainers. I do think it is great that he is bold enough to voice his opinion but saying they were pretending to be singers is a bit juvenile. Most actors are actually really good singers. Just because they chose not to make a career based on singing doesn't mean they aren't singers. It's like telling a mom or dad that since they chose to have a career outside the home that they are pretend parents. Maybe he would get further in his own career if he dropped the bitterness angle. Hard to root for the guy or gal who always complains.

Adam needs to get off his high horse. He's not all that. Russell Crowe has a good voice when singing with his band. I just think maybe this was a little out of his league perhaps? I haven't seen it yet so I wouldn't know. Critics have said he's pretty decent but not as strong as the rest...I'm looking forward to this movie (rantings of an overrated drama queen notwithstanding!):)

And also Samantha Barks is a trained singer. She came from broadway! I think the weakest link in the cast was Russell Crowe and he was even great! Eddie Redmayne was AMAZING! Amanda Seyfried was as well! Adam sucks!

This comment is classless. When you see the movie you should know they sang every single take. No autotune or anything like what Adam can use when he records albums.
